What’s happening in week 25

You are almost six months into your pregnancy. If you stand in front of mirror this week, you might be seeing a more rounded belly and face of ever usual yourself. Familiar of course, but still different. At this 25 weeks gestation, your hips, thighs, tummy and upper arms seem more filled out and less defined than they were. Many pregnant couples make up a nickname for their baby while it is still in the mother’s belly, so start searching for good and meaningful name of your baby……!

How big is my baby at 25 weeks?

You are at 25 weeks pregnant and baby is about 13 inches long if measured crown to foot and weighs more than 1.5 pounds. But at 25 weeks of gestation, his/her lungs are still very much works-in-progress. Though they are already beginning to produce surfactant, a substance that will help them expand with oxygen after baby is born, the lungs are still too undeveloped to sufficiently send oxygen to the bloodstream and release carbon dioxide when he/she exhales so those babies who are born at 24 weeks need specialist care and support in order to survive. Baby’s nostrils and nose are starting to work this week.

Baby’s reflexes are start working as he/she can feel, see and hear so spend your time stroking your bump and talking to your baby. Singing to your baby is also good as ever at this stage in your pregnancy. If you’re having an ante-natal appointment this week, you can easily listen to your baby’s heartbeat. On average, a baby’s heart will beat twice as many times per minute as its mother’s.

  • Snoring is quite common during pregnancy since increased blood flow to mucous membranes in your nose can cause congestion. But if you find your snoring is seriously interfering with your sleep, this could be a sign that you have sleep apnea , so ask your practitioner about it.
  • Every pregnant women experiences different things during their whole pregnancy time frame some women complaining about pelvic pain. Which is happening one in five women when they are pregnant, and sometimes it can be quite severe and debilitating.  This is happen when the ligaments around the pelvis area soften prematurely and become too relaxed and stretchy, which means they can no longer keep your pelvis correctly aligned.This is commonly called Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction.
  • Dental care is very important during pregnancy many women noticing some blood on your toothbrush. Oral hygiene can prevent those gums which are prone to swelling or gingivitis as well. Remember to brush your teeth at least twice a day and to floss thoroughly at night. Make an appointment to see your dentist at least twice through your pregnancy.
  • Get into the habit of lying on your left side, rather than flat on your back. Your heavy uterus may compress important blood vessels which supply the placenta and oxygen supply of baby.
  • To avoid risk of premature labor pains if you noticing any pain, bleeding or unusual symptoms you have need to be checked by your midwife or doctor. Some women are more prone to premature labor and delivery in this month means special care for baby. Don’t hesitate to have a check-up even if you feel you want reassurance.
