ORAL HEALTH: BRUSH UP TECHNIQUES


People are always very much concerned about their looks and even smile. Attractive smile adds the charm to your personality isn’t it? Our smile is totally depends on our daily dental care habits like proper brushing or flossing. But the question is that “Are we using the right techniques?”  Oral health: brush up techniques are some how very simple but it demands extra care. Follow these rules to protect your teeth or your smile as well;

BRUSHING FOR ORAL HEALTH:

Oral health totally depends on your teeth. It begins with clean, bright and strong teeth. Always keep the area of teeth and gums clean to prevent many gum diseases, and it also help to prevent from tooth cavities. Follow these basics of brushing habits;

  • BRUSH TWICE A DAY EVERY DAY: Alway brush two or three times a day after every big meal. It is really good for your health and always keep your teeth strong and bright.
  • USE PROPER TOOTH BRUSH: Choice of right brush for your teeth counts a lot. Always choose according to your teeth and gums condition like hard, medium or soft. Consider using battery operated brushes these are really good to remove plaque from your teeth.
  • PRACTICE GOOD TECHNIQUES: Technique of brushing matters a lot. Always hold at a  slight angle and do it at up down motion from upper jaw to lower. Not forget to brush from inside and chewing surface.
  • KEEP YOUR BRUSH COVERED OR CLEAN: Always rinse your tooth-brush with clean water before use or after brushing. Cover your brush but these covers are not to tight or air blocker because if there is no air than there are chances of bacterial growth, which is dangerous for oral health.
  • KNOW WHEN TO REPLACE YOUR TOOTH BRUSH: It is very necessary awareness among people to replace the old toothbrush with new one. This investment prevents you from many dental health issues.

FLOSSING FOR ORAL HEALTH:

There are very tight space between teeth and under the gumming area where brush cannot reach.This is the main reason for oral care to flossing on daily basis. When flossing keep in mind;

  • DON’T SKIMP: Dental floss should be at least 20 inches long and always grip it tightly between your forefingers and thumb.
  • BE GENTLE: Always be gentle while flossing in order to avoid injury or any other issue.
  • TAKE IT ONE TOOTH AT A TIME: Always doing flossing one tooth at one time to give time to every tooth properly, move the floss into gumming area and teeth joint slowly in upward and downward motion. Always try to use fresh floss for next tooth and so on.
  • USE ALTERNATIVES: Some times it is difficult to handle floss properly for you, then don’t worry use alternative an interdental cleaner such as special plastic stick or wooden stick, brush or pick  specially and professionally designed to clean the area between the teeth.

OTHER TIPS FOR ORAL HEALTH CARE :

If you want some extra care of your teeth than use antimicrobial month wash in addition with daily brushing and flossing. If you choose month rinse which contains fluoride it is good for teeth protection as it promotes extra oral care.

Those food particles that are not easily dislodged from brushing or flossing than use alternative. Oral irrigator is good for this purpose because its function is to allow stream of water in to mouth, which easily remove extra particles of food. Don’t use any object that could injure the gums like toothpicks or any steel object. Always remember that oral irrigator is good for oral health care in addition with daily brushing and flossing but oral irrigator fails to remove the plaque from teeth.

WHEN TO CONSULT THE DENTIST:

Scheduled visit to the dentist regularly is good for oral health, it always keep you far away from gum diseases and other oral health problems and serious issues. So regular checkups and dental examinations is very important. Mean while if you noticed any symptoms or signs that are unusual and lead towards oral health problems consult to dentist such as;

  • Reds, swollen gums.
  • Tender gums.
  • Bleeding from gums when brushing or flossing.
  • Gum when begin to pull away from your tooth.
  • Loose of permanent teeth.
  • Feeling pain.
  • Presence of cavities.
  • Alignment of upper and lower jaw if you feel getting out.
  • Hot and cold sensitivity.
  • Bad breath.
  • Feeling persistently unusual taste in mouth.
